If your table saw blade drops while in operation, the arbor does not lock in place where the arbor is able to move freely while the saw is turned off; it’s likely that your saw recently had a safety activation. It’s also likely that your saw requires a reset of the arbor arm. Verify that the standard saw reset procedure has been properly completed. If it is not, reset the arbor arm using the standard procedure which is described in the saw manual.
Methods of Resetting the Arbor Arm
At first, disconnect the power of the saw. Remove the table insert and set it aside. Lower the blade to its fully lowered position while lowering the angle of the arbor will change relative to the table.
When you have fully lowered the saw, you will hear and see the arbor lock back into place with a click. To ensure that the arbor arm has been reset correctly, raise the blade to its fully raised position. Place a towel over the blade for protection and also place the cloth end of the wrench around the arbor nut. Push downward to ensure the arbor no longer moves freely.
Once you have confirmed the arbor arm has been properly reset, replace the table insert.
If the standard saw reset procedure was not successful, it’s likely that the compacted sawdust or other debris preventing the arbor lock from engaging. We recommend you to clean the saw trunnion and arbor following instructions according to the saw owners manual. However, if you need to reset the arbor arm before cleaning, follow the next procedures to manually reset the saw.
First, disconnect the power of the saw and raise the saw blade. When the saw does not raise any further, do not force it any higher.
Remove the table insert and set it aside. By using the blade wrench, place the closed end around the arbor nut. Push the arbor down as far as it will go and then firmly pull upwards.
To check if the arbor arm has reset to its proper positioning, place the towel over the blade for protection and push downward to ensure that there is no movement. Once the arbor has been successfully reset, replace the table insert.
